An explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort on Sunday night has left the nation in shock, prompting widespread security measures and high alert across several Indian states. Authorities have intensified vigilance and deployed additional police forces in sensitive areas as investigations continue.

Multiple states, including Punjab, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Odisha, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Bihar, have been placed on high alert. Security has also been tightened in southern cities such as Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Kochi, where increased police checks are being conducted at airports, railway stations, and other crowded public spaces.

In response to the situation, the Delhi Traffic Police issued a travel advisory early this morning, announcing road closures and diversions around Netaji Subhash Marg, one of the major routes near the Red Fort area. The advisory, effective from 6:00 AM today, will remain in force until further notice.

The official statement reads:

“On 11.11.25, due to exigencies, traffic restrictions and diversions will be in place in both the carriageways and service roads of Netaji Subhash Marg from Chatta Rail Cut to Subhash Marg Cut. Commuters are advised to avoid these routes from 06:00 AM till further orders and use alternative roads for a hassle-free journey.”

It further added, “No vehicles shall be allowed on Netaji Subhash Marg from Chatta Rail Cut to Subhash Marg Cut on that day and vice versa.”

Additionally, the Red Fort and Lal Qila Metro Station have been temporarily closed to ensure public safety. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation confirmed, “Lal Qila Metro Station is closed due to security reasons. All other stations are functional as normal.”

Officials have also announced that the Red Fort will remain closed to visitors until November 13, as security teams continue their operations in and around the area. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, and further updates are expected as investigations progress.
