Flowers wilt. Chocolates disappear. But the friendships that have survived bad haircuts, questionable exes and group chats that should never see daylight? Those deserve something bigger. This is Galentine’s with altitude, adrenaline, spa robes and shared stories you’ll retell for years. Here are five destinations, five moods and one unbreakable girl code.

Ras Al Khaimah: For the Friends Who Push You to New Heights

For the thrill-seekers in the group, Ras Al Khaimah is pure playground energy. Start at Jebel Jais, the UAE’s highest peak, where crisp air and sweeping views set the tone. Then comes the ultimate bonding test, the world’s longest zipline, where you’ll soar at speeds of nearly 120 km/h, screaming, laughing and questioning your life choices together.

After the adrenaline rush, refuel at 1484 by Puro, the UAE’s highest restaurant. Share plates, replay the zipline footage in slow motion and collectively agree that yes, you were incredibly brave.

Galentine’s takeaway: Trust is letting your best friend strap you into a harness and promising it’s safe.

Phulay Bay, Krabi: A Vow Renewal, But Make It Friendship

At Phulay Bay, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, stillness becomes the shared language. Begin mornings with sunrise yoga overlooking the Andaman Sea. Spend afternoons drifting between spa rituals and barefoot beach picnics. Snorkel over coral gardens or simply exist in that rare, peaceful silence only true friendship allows.

As dusk falls, gather for a candlelit dinner by the ocean. No grand declarations required, just a quiet promise to keep choosing each other, no matter where life leads.

Galentine’s takeaway: Romance is optional. Loyalty is not.

Tokyo Skytree: Because You’ve Come Too Far to Stay Grounded

Some friendships are built on ambition and evolution. At Tokyo Skytree, ascend above the city and watch Tokyo stretch endlessly below. It’s the kind of place that invites reflection, on hostel dorm days, first jobs and every chaotic chapter in between.

Mark the moment with dinner at Sky Restaurant 634 (Musashi). Raise a toast to growth, grit and the women who have witnessed every version of you and stayed.

Galentine’s takeaway: Elevation hits differently when shared.

Kenya: The OG Crew and the Big Five

For the friends who’ve known you since before the glow-ups, Kenya offers something raw and unforgettable. Picture sunrise game drives in Maasai Mara, scanning the horizon for lions, wrapped in blankets and disbelief. In Amboseli National Park, elephants cross your path with Mount Kilimanjaro standing impossibly still behind them.

Mornings begin with strong Kenyan coffee. Afternoons dissolve into bush lunches and golden-hour sundowners. Safari strips away distractions, it’s just land, sky and the women who’ve seen every version of you.

image

Galentine’s takeaway: The real luxury isn’t the lodge. It’s the history you share.

Seychelles: Soft Life, Strong Friendships

For the beach-loving crew, Seychelles is pure soft life energy. Lounge on Anse Lazio or Anse Intendance, where powdery sand meets impossibly blue waters. Wander through Vallée de Mai beneath ancient palms and discover the iconic Coco de Mer.

Snorkel at Anse Source d'Argent, hop on a catamaran between islands and end the day with barefoot dinners under the stars. No emails. No rush. Just time, the rarest luxury of all.

Galentine’s takeaway: Some friendships don’t need adventure. They just need turquoise water and time.

The Twist

Galentine’s isn’t about replacing romance, it’s about honouring the friendships that often last the longest. These trips are affirmations: of bravery, of loyalty, of choosing each other again and again.

This year, skip the clichés. Book the flight. Plan the adventure. Order the extra dessert.

Because girl code? That’s forever.

United Airlines to Add 250+ Aircraft, Introduces New Premium Experiences

United Airlines has announced the next phase of its long-term growth plan, with a major fleet expansion and a strong focus on improving customer experience. The airline expects to take delivery of more than 250 new aircraft by April 2028, marking the highest number added by any airline within a two-year period.

This move is aimed at modernising its fleet, introducing new aircraft variants, and bringing in upgraded onboard products across cabins. The plan also includes a refreshed experience for transcontinental travellers, helping United further stand out in the premium travel space.

As part of this expansion, United is introducing its new Airbus A321 “Coastliner” subfleet and A321XLR aircraft. These narrowbody jets will feature widebody-style comfort, including lie-flat seats in United Polaris with direct aisle access. The Coastliner will operate between San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Newark/New York, offering a premium cabin experience on domestic routes along with access to United Polaris lounges.

The airline is also bringing in upgrades to its international fleet. Its Boeing 787-9 aircraft with the new Elevated interior will begin international service on April 22. These aircraft include the United Polaris Studio, offering larger seats with privacy doors, enhanced dining with wine pairings and caviar, wireless charging, Bluetooth connectivity, and large 4K OLED screens.

United’s A321XLR aircraft will offer 32 premium seats, expanding comfort options on shorter international routes. These aircraft are expected to replace older Boeing 757s and will help the airline expand into new destinations in Europe and South America.

For regional connectivity, United is introducing the CRJ450, a redesigned aircraft aimed at providing a more premium experience. Operated by SkyWest, it will connect smaller cities to hubs like Denver and Chicago, featuring a spacious United First cabin and improved interiors.

The airline’s broader growth strategy builds on its “United Next” plan announced in 2021. Since then, United has added new aircraft, upgraded its fleet, increased premium seating, and expanded its workforce significantly.

“For more than a decade, we've invested billions of dollars in our product, service, and technology as part of our plan to be the best brand loyal airline in the world, and the result is that more and more customers are choosing to fly us every day,” said United CEO Scott Kirby. “Today we accelerate our plans and elevate our offerings to the next level, creating an even more consistent, premium onboard experience for every customer and delivering value across every cabin of service.”

“These new planes and products not only complement our fleet and network plans, but they also give our customers more premium amenity and seat choices, whether they bought a basic economy ticket to fly from Chicago to Ft. Wayne or are flying Polaris between San Francisco and Singapore,” said United Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer Andrew Nocella. “United is setting the pace and innovating for our customers at a scope and scale unheard of in aviation history and we're not taking our foot off the gas.”

Alongside new aircraft, United is also enhancing onboard services for all passengers. This includes Starlink Wi-Fi for MileagePlus members, improved in-flight entertainment with seatback screens, better food and beverage options, and updated comfort features like improved blankets and earbuds.

With these additions, United is working towards offering a more consistent and comfortable travel experience across its entire network, while continuing to expand its global reach.

Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has launched its first scheduled service to North Carolina, marking a new addition to its North American network. The inaugural flight arrived at Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) on 20 March and was operated using the airline’s Airbus A350-1000.

With this new route, Etihad connects Charlotte and the wider North Carolina region to its global network via Abu Dhabi. The service is expected to support both passenger travel and cargo movement, while also offering easier access to key destinations across India and Asia.

The Airbus A350-1000, used for this route, is known for its advanced design and fuel efficiency. It features next-generation engines and improved aerodynamics, making it one of the most modern widebody aircraft currently in operation.

Onboard, Etihad offers a comfortable experience across cabins. In Business class, passengers can enjoy fully flat beds, direct aisle access, added privacy, and a premium dining experience. The Economy cabin, with 327 seats, provides good legroom along with personal entertainment systems that support Bluetooth headset pairing. Nepal Updates Trekking Rules to Welcome Solo Travellers

Nepal Updates Trekking Rules to Welcome Solo Travellers

Nepal’s Department of Immigration (DoI) has revised its trekking permit rules, opening up restricted routes to solo foreign travellers. Earlier, these permits were issued only to groups of at least two people, but the new decision now allows individuals to explore these regions under specific conditions.

The change came into effect on Sunday, following requests from tourism stakeholders who felt the earlier rule was limiting visitor numbers and slowing tourism activity. Organisations like the Trekking Agencies' Association of Nepal (TAAN) had been pushing for this update, highlighting how restrictions on solo trekkers were affecting independent travel.

As per the revised guidelines, solo travellers are still required to follow safety protocols. They must be accompanied by a licensed trekking guide, and all trips need to be arranged through a registered trekking agency. According to a notice issued by department spokesperson Tikaram Dhakal, “The facilitating agency will be fully responsible for emergency rescue and logistical arrangements.”

The updated policy applies to restricted areas across 13 districts. These include popular trekking regions such as Upper Mustang, Upper and Lower Dolpa, the Manaslu and Tsum Valley regions in Gorkha, and the Nar and Phu valleys in Manang.

To strengthen safety and monitoring, the department has also set a guide-to-trekker ratio. One guide can now lead up to seven trekkers, a move aimed at improving oversight in remote and challenging terrains.

In addition, the DoI has introduced a digital system for trekking permits. Foreign travellers can now apply online using their valid Nepali visa numbers. Those applying from outside Nepal can use an "Application Submission ID" to pay fees in advance, making the process more convenient.

With this update, Nepal aims to strike a balance between improving access for travellers and ensuring safety, while also supporting tourism growth and creating more opportunities for local employment.
