Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced the state government's goal to transform Goa into one of the world's foremost green tourism hotspots. A strategic roadmap has been laid out to introduce renewable energy and energy-efficient interventions in the tourism sector, aiming to decarbonize the nature-driven industry. Alongside tourism, critical sectors like transport, industry, health, agriculture, and fisheries are also ready to implement people-centric schemes and awareness drives for the adoption of clean technologies and sustainable practices.

The Chief Minister invited all stakeholders to actively participate in making the state's Clean Energy Roadmap a reality and a global example. Goa, along with other Indian states, is aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's fivefold strategy to achieve Net Zero carbon emissions by 2070. The state aims to build 500GW of non-fossil energy capacity and fulfill 50% of energy requirements through renewable sources by 2030.

Goa has recently developed the Clean Energy Roadmap, which outlines plans to decarbonize all sectors of the economy by 2050. The state is focused on harnessing solar power, and its solar policy encourages household generation of clean energy. Goa has made significant progress, increasing solar power generation sevenfold since 2019. By following the energy vision and analysis of the Clean Energy Roadmap, the state aims to achieve 100% renewables-based electricity supply to all key sectors by 2050 or earlier. The identification of high-potential areas for renewable energy technologies and efficient practices is expected to yield substantial environmental, economic, and social benefits.
